During his meeting with MPs, Premier League CEO Richard Masters was accompanied by an Everton supporter.

When MPs questioned Premier League CEO Richard Masters about a number of current football-related concerns, he was joined by a disgruntled Everton supporter who many football fans are referring to as a “legend” on social media. A Select Committee on Digital, Culture, Media, and Sport heard from Masters the day after the league accused the Toffees and Nottingham Forest of violating financial regulations, a transgression that might result in a deduction of points.

Everton was previously docked ten points earlier in the season, but many have expressed dissatisfaction at Nottingham Forest and Sean Dyche’s teams potentially being punished this year while Manchester City’s 115 charges are still pending.

MPs questioned Masters about the Premier League’s role in sports in general as well as their profit and sustainability policies, which Everton and Forest are said to have broken.

Strangely, though, Julie Clarke, an Everton supporter, was seated behind Masters. She was sporting her Toffees shirt for the cameras to see, creating a contrast that drove social media into a frenzy.
