Before the transfer window ends on February 1, Manchester United will need to pay €25 million to get Boca Juniors wonderkid Aaron Anselmino.
One of Argentina’s top up-and-coming center backs, Anselmino, 18, is reportedly the target of inquiries from United, according to Planet Boca Juniors.
The teenager is also attracting interest from AC Milan, but Boca will not part with the defender until the winter transfer window unless they receive at least €25 million in compensation.
Valentin Barco left the Argentine powerhouses lately to join Brighton & Hove Albion. A €9.2 million release clause in his contract was activated by the Premier League team.
To prevent a recurrence, Boca recently gave Anselmino a new contract that included a €18.4 million buyout clause. For the last few days of the transfer window, that amount has doubled to €25 million.
Man Utd ought to sign Anselmino before Milan.
Despite having only five senior games for Boca, the 18-year-old has shown promise.
The youthful center defender is a capable ball player. With an average of over three tackles won each game, he has won 68% of his ground and aerial duels.
His ability to clean his lines and quick recovery have also drawn attention to him. Given his enormous potential, Boca appears hesitant to take a pay offer of less than €25 million for his services.
United might be unable to pay the money upfront because of problems with Financial Fair Play. A buy-back clause in a loan agreement is one option, but the team might have other ideas.
Only one more loan signature can be registered by the Red Devils because Sofyan Amrabat is already on loan. They will probably concentrate on signing a short-term contract to get a striker.
Therefore, Anselmino’s transfer may wait until the summer, but in order to persuade the player to join the team, the management must speak with him through his entourage.
