Kalvin Phillips, a 28-year-old midfielder for Manchester City, has a contract with West Ham United.
The Athletic reported that West Ham United prioritized Kalvin Phillips as a goal in the current transfer window as they looked to strengthen their midfield. The 28-year-old’s services have been agreed to by the Hammers and Manchester City.

In the summer, City was prepared to break things up with Phillips. The England international chose to stay at the club and compete for his spot, even though they were prepared to approve a loan move. However, nothing has changed in the last six months, and City still has too much of him.

In the summer of 2022, following his stellar tenure at his boyhood team, Leeds United, they re-signed him. The defensive midfielder wasn’t successful in his attempt to break into Pep Guardiola’s starting lineup.

With the Euros approaching, the 28-year-old felt it was time to move on and look for regular first-team action after playing just 319 minutes over 10 games. The England international was coveted by many teams, but West Ham United was able to reach an agreement with City.

The former Leeds midfielder has recently been linked to Juventus, but they haven’t taken any action. In the meanwhile, the Hammers and City have reached an agreement over a loan transfer. Due to the London club’s recent injury woes, David Moyes was eager to add more depth to the midfield.

The Hammers are still in need of a defensive midfielder, even though they did sign a number of players after selling Declan Rice for a sizeable sum of money. Additionally, Phillips’ experience playing in the Premier League looked to make him a great fit.

Personal terms were never going to be an issue because the player was eager to play for the first team and the Hammers were willing to accommodate his age. The 28-year-old will make the transfer official as soon as he and the rest of the City team return to England from their training camp in Abu Dhabi, since both clubs have finally reached an understanding.
