Miami’s rising star Leonard Taylor III just completed his inaugural day at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis, eagerly anticipating his name being called in April’s draft.

As a defensive lineman for Miami, Taylor seized the opportunity to showcase his athleticism to scouts during his first round of drills and tests.

However, his performance fell short of expectations, failing to impress with lackluster results, particularly with the bench press looming on the agenda for tomorrow.

Ranked by NFL Next Gen Stats as the 15th best defensive tackle in terms of athleticism score from today’s drills, Taylor’s stats paint a mixed picture of his capabilities.

His results include a 40-yard dash time of 5.12 seconds, a 10-yard split of 1.76 seconds, a vertical leap of 30 inches, a broad jump of 9 feet 1 inch, and a 3-cone drill time of 7.81 seconds.

Despite his underwhelming performance at the combine, Taylor’s potential as a prospect remains promising.

Hailing as a five-star recruit from high school, he has demonstrated flashes of brilliance throughout his tenure at Miami.

Notably, his standout season occurred during his sophomore year in 2022, where he tallied impressive statistics including 24 tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss, three sacks, and an interception.

As the week progresses, all eyes will be on Taylor as he gears up for the bench press drill, alongside his fellow Hurricanes who are set to participate in the NFL Draft Combine.
