Many supporters of the Chicago Bears are salivating over the possibility that the team’s offense could rank among the top in the NFC come playoff time after the team acquired Pro Bowl wide out Keenan Allen.

Many untrue stories have been spread about Ryan Poles and his methods, but one critique that is valid is how little assistance Poles has given Justin Fields.

Justin Fields trade talk: Ranking the Bears' most likely partners

D.J. Moore was the lone reliable playmaker signed with the intention of aiding in Fields’ growth in the two seasons that Poles has managed with Fields as his starting quarterback.

For this reason, many fans have speculated that the addition of playmakers to the Bears’ roster improves Fields’ play, a theory that surfaced last season when it became apparent that the team would be positioned to select first overall in the 2024 NFL Draft.

The thinking went something like this: even if Fields might not be the best passer, he might still be able to thrive if the skill positions had better players.

It’s possible that Ryan Poles is buying into a well-liked Chicago Bears fan myth.

Although the Bears have not yet made a choice about the quarterback position, Poles’ actions over the off-season could support the theory that a lot of supporters have been putting forth.

Many supporters of this thesis have demanded that Poles construct the NFC North’s Philadelphia Eagles. The Bears have acquired D’Andre Swift, a rushing back from the 2023 Eagles, as their leading back.

Poles has now given the Bears’ offense two Pro Bowl wide outs in Allen and Moore by adopting the Eagles’ playbook.

Fields has hit a home run with the decisions he made this past week, assuming the Bears decide to stick with him as their starting quarterback.
