Although the Chicago Bears have not yet made their plans official, it appears that Caleb Williams is aware of what will happen when the team selects the first overall choice in the 2018 NFL Draft.

Williams was present at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra, Florida, this week for The Players Championship. The former USC standout was granted access to the backstage area with a film crew by the PGA Tour in order to witness some of the action. Williams came to the conclusion that “they have a lot of Bears fans, I guess, here” after receiving a nice greeting.

Williams’ remark was at least slightly remarkable, even though it may not have broken any significant news. Justin Fields is still not in the Bears’ possession. Though all signs point to them selecting Williams first overall, they may choose to hold onto Fields and get a huge haul in return for trading back to No. 1. It appears that the quarterback has been informed exactly that by the Bears.

Williams has since refuted rumors that he would have wanted not to be selected by Chicago in the draft.

If Chicago were to trade out of first place at this time, it would be a major surprise. An additional indication that the Bears have made up their minds comes from Williams’ remarks at The Players Championship.
