DALVIN COOK
Dalvin Cook, a former top player for Florida State, is still a free agent. After splitting up with the New York Jets during the previous season, he hasn’t signed a contract with a new team yet. He’s currently searching for his next residence because he didn’t exactly fit in with the Jets.
In order to cover a vacancy at running back, the former Seminole is reportedly interested in signing with the Dallas Cowboys.
Cook and Ezekiel Elliot are interested in signing with the Cowboys, according to Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News.
“Team owner Jerry Jones and executive vice president Stephen Jones told the Dallas Morning News this week at the NFL’s annual meeting they could neither confirm nor deny interest in the running backs,” Gehlken stated.
Cook was signed by the Baltimore Ravens for the postseason, although he did not play the part that the four-time Pro Bowler might have anticipated playing for the Jets the previous season. He could be able to close a developing gap in Dallas.
After Tony Pollard left the Cowboys this offseason, the team is losing output in the backfield, and Cook is easily the best player in the position group.
Signing Cook wouldn’t be a bad option, especially if he’s interested, even though the Cowboys may have the chance to select a rookie running back in the 2024 NFL Draft, which may present an opportunity.
In the previous campaign, Cook saw just 82 touches for 292 rushing yards and no touchdowns, thus dropping him down the depth chart. When healthy, the former Seminole showed enormous promise with the Minnesota Vikings after an amazing career in Tallahassee.
Cook’s past few seasons have not been ideal, but joining a team like Dallas—which doesn’t seem to have many other choices at the running back position—might present him with a chance for a season of redemption.
