With LeBron James, the Los Angeles Lakers are running out of time. They are only able to upgrade skill to a certain extent given the restricted resources at their disposal. That won’t deter them from trying, though. According to Jovan Buha of The Athletic, they are focusing on Trae Young in order to encircle James and Anthony Davis.
Buha clarified on his YouTube channel that the Lakers are considering pursuing a third star, and that Young’s name has been mentioned.
This off-season, “they are going third star hunting,” according to Buha. “Who is accessible now? Trae Young is the one name I hear a lot. He is a client of Clutch Sports and has previously attended Laker playoff games. At the moment, that seems to be the most feasible option.
Then, in a deal for Young, Buha wondered who would return to the Atlanta Hawks.
Naturally, the decision to acquire him will depend on their willingness to offer all three picks and two picks in exchange. Max (Christie) and Austin (Reaves)? Is Austin the only one experiencing this? Of course, you also need to have an income to match. Is that Hachimura Rui? Is Jared Vanderbilt that person? Is D’Angelo Russell sent there as well? Though there are many possible outcomes, from what I gather, they are definitely going third-star hunting.
Young, who is in the second year of a five-year, $215 million contract, was named to the All-NBA squad in 2022.
