For many years, Lattimore has been among the NFL’s best cornerbacks. For the Saints, he has been a huge playmaker at the lockdown corner position. There has been an update about the Saints’ position on Lattimore from their end.

Dennis Allen, the head coach of New Orleans, addressed the matter and gave a succinct but forceful update on the two parties’ future plans.

“I talked to him about it. Most likely two or three weeks prior. It seemed like a constructive exchange to me. Thus, we’re making progress.

It would be difficult for the Saints to recover without Lattimore because he is a crucial component of their defence.

Lattimore played in just ten games for New Orleans in the 2023 season. He participated in just seven games in 2022. But in the ten games he participated in the previous season, he recorded 48 total tackles, an interception, and eight passes defensed.

Even if there are concerns about his availability, he has demonstrated that he can have a significant impact on the field. Given his age of only 28, he still has a few outstanding years left in his prime.

Of course, things might change, and if the appropriate trade is presented, the Saints might consider moving Lattimore. There’s still the long-term financial problem, and he may not get what he wants from New Orleans. Many NFL teams would be interested in acquiring him if that does turn out to be a problem.

Thankfully, the Saints were able to choose highly in the 2024 NFL Draft, regardless of what happens with Lattimore. Kool-Aid McKinstry was ultimately removed from Alabama. If Lattimore were to leave, it would be less devastating because he projects to be a very good cornerback in the future.
As the offseason progresses, expect to hear more rumours about the Saints. It will not stop being said that Lattimore is a player who might be traded. Although it doesn’t appear like New Orleans is aggressively trying to move him right now, there’s still a possibility.
