The St. Louis Cardinals took the lead in the third inning thanks to a home run by Matt Carpenter. On Wednesday, the Cardinals defeated the Cincinnati Reds 5-3 thanks in part to a home run by Nolan Gorman.

Since April 30, 2021, Carpenter has not hit a home run for the Cardinals. The Cardinals (27-27) have won 12 of their previous 15 games, demonstrating their recent strong play. They were 9-9 on April 17; this win got them back to.500 for the first time. Prior to this upturn, they had a dismal record of 15–24. Currently, they have won five series in a row.

“Our baseball game is improving,” Carpenter remarked. “Our offence is completing a full circle and approaching our initial perceptions of ourselves from the start of the season.”

Carpenter, a three-time All-Star who spent 2011–21 with the Cardinals, is 38 years old. He hit the home run off Frankie Montas (2-4). Carpenter has four RBIs in 36 at-bats and a batting average of.250.

Against Brent Suter, in the eighth inning, Gorman launched his tenth home run of the year. In the fourth inning, he added an RBI double to give the Cardinals a 2-0 lead.

In his first start since July 31, 2022, Andre Pallante (1-1) allowed three hits over six scoreless innings of work. He walked three and struck out four.

Oliver Mormol, manager of the Cardinals, remarked that Pallante did a pretty good job. “That was a pretty impressive outing.” He made lots of flimsy contact.

Following Steven Matz’s injury in the first week of May, Matthew Liberatore was used by St. Louis as their fifth starter. Pallante had been vying for a rotation berth in the minor levels.

Pallante stated, “It was exactly what I was hoping for when I got sent down at the beginning of this year.” “I’ve always thought of myself as a starter, and I get better the more pitches I throw.” My pitching was not good enough to get me up here. I wasn’t getting where I wanted to go by pouting.

After allowing Tyler Stephenson to reach on a sacrifice fly in the ninth inning, Ryan Helsley recorded a major league-high 18th save in 19 chances when Elly De La Cruz hit into a forceout.
