With the 13th overall pick, the Las Vegas Raiders selected Georgia tight end Brock Bowers, an All-American.
One of the most gifted rookies entering the league this year is Bowers, who might be a very useful weapon in Sin City.
According to Olsen, “he might be the best college tight end production-wise, just the eye test,” in his words.
Olsen would be familiar with what makes a successful tight end.
Before entering the league and participating for over fifteen years, he was an All-ACC tight end at Miami.
During his tenure with the Carolina Panthers, the former two-time All-Pro and three-time Pro Bowler caught over 1,000 yards in receptions three separate times.
Bowers has the potential to be a fantastic tight end like Olsen.
In each of his three seasons as a Kirby Smart player, the two-time national champion and two-time Mackey Award winner caught over fifty-five passes.
He also had an average of 14.5 yards per reception during his time in college.
Bowers, who stands 6-3 and weighs about 250 pounds, is a formidable opponent in Las Vegas.
The arrival of Bowers will greatly benefit this offence, which already features Davante Adams, another tight end in Michael Mayer, former 1,000-yard receiver Michael Gallup, and free-agent signee Alexander Mattison.
In Bowers’ rookie season, expect this offence to remain difficult to stop even without All-Pro running back Josh Jacobs.
