A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith of the Philadelphia Eagles are perhaps the best wide receiver tandem in the whole NFL, and both players have large contracts that keep them in place for the foreseeable future. However, there are some valid concerns about Philadelphia’s receiving group behind them, particularly in light of DeVante Parker’s sudden departure.
Even though the Eagles signed John Ross lately, they might still be looking to acquire a pass-catcher. Thus, The 33rd Team just declared that the Birds were Hunter Renfrow’s “best fit” as a free agency wide receiver.
After being selected by the Las Vegas Raiders in the fifth round of the 2019 draft, Renfrow played for the team for the first five seasons of his career. He’s currently searching for a new location to further his profession.
The 33rd Team made the following comments regarding Renfrow’s possible fit in Philadelphia:
One receiver that is still available and might have a significant impact on the Eagles is Hunter Renfrow. In 2021, Renfrow was the Raiders’ de facto top wide receiver with 103 receptions for 1,038 yards. In 2022, he struggled with multiple injuries, and in 2023, he lost favour with Josh McDaniels and team.
“Hopefully, Renfrow’s recent injuries are in the past now that he participated in all 17 games in the 2023 campaign. Even though Renfrow is only a slot receiver, he would fit right in with Kellen Moore’s offence, which depends on the slot receiver to win one-on-one situations.”
A wise signature
To be honest, the Eagles would be wise to sign Renfrow. He would line up as a slot receiver in Philadelphia, which is exactly where he has expertise, and playing with players like Smith and Brown would help him get more opportunities in the centre of the field.
Although Renfrow has only once in his career surpassed 1,000 receiving yards in a season, the Eagles wouldn’t absolutely need him to produce large stats. All they would need was for him to be a viable alternative. Given that he is still only 28 years old and has more experience than most of the other receivers on Philly’s roster, he should still have plenty of successful football seasons ahead of him.
All things considered, signing Renfrow is a wise move. Watch to see if the Eagles do the same.
