Cesare Casadei has returned from his loan at Leicester City, according to Chelsea. Despite the Foxes’ impressive form, the 21-year-old midfielder, who joined the Blues from Inter Milan 18 months ago, found it difficult to make an impression at the King Power Stadium.

Casadei, whose Stamford Bridge contract expires in 2028, played 22 times in the Championship for Enzo Maresca’s team, but he only managed two goals and no assists. The Italy Under-21 international played an average of just 39.7 minutes per appearance and only started eight games, so he fell short of expectations.

Even though Casadei received some severe criticism from some Leicester supporters, Maresca frequently jumped to the young player’s defense. The Italian manager claimed that people underestimate the Chelsea star and that he still has a lot of potential that is only waiting to be realized earlier this month after the player inspired the Foxes to win in the FA Cup third round.

Maresca stated, “Cesare played a good game,” as cited by the Leicester Mercury. “People tend to forget that Cesare is, for example, younger than Wanya (Marcal), which is an issue. People tend to overlook his age of twenty because of his size. 2003 was the year of his birth. He is the same age as Doyle’s Callum.

“Even though Cesare sometimes misses opportunities or goals, we are still really satisfied with him when he plays. He’s not old. He needs to get better. He’s going through the right process.

“He got a nice goal today. He was on that side in part because we know Marc (Albrighton) enjoys crossing, so if Marc crossed and Yunus was on the other side, we would have some trouble!
