Star scorer Erling Haaland’s foot injury may cause Manchester City to lose ground in their quest for the Premier League title. Since December 6, the 23-year-old Norwegian player has missed eight games in all competitions.

Haaland’s foot problem still exists despite his return to training last week, and he won’t likely be back on the team until City’s warm-weather camp in the Middle East the following week. Haaland’s condition has been updated by manager Pep Guardiola.

“There’s a little bit of concerning issues in his feet,” he said. It’s alright… The physicians agreed to take a week off before maybe picking up again in Abu Dhabi. Hopefully, he’ll be prepared by the end
of this month.”

Because of the nature of the injury, Guardiola admitted that the healing process has taken longer than expected, but he is still optimistic that Haaland will be ready for the season’s last few months. Haaland’s injury will also prevent him from playing in a number of forthcoming Manchester City games.

He won’t be present for the FA Cup fourth-round match against Tottenham Hotspur on January 26 or the match against Newcastle United on Saturday night. Haaland might also be sidelined for the January 31 match against Burnley, according to Guardiola’s remarks. Haaland could play again against Brentford on February 5 if his recuperation proceeds as planned.

Haaland’s absence might have an impact on Manchester City and Liverpool’s title match. Liverpool currently leads Guardiola’s team in the table by five points.

Prior to his injury, Haaland had scored 14 goals in 15 Premier League appearances, thus City would definitely miss him. Undoubtedly, Liverpool will be closely monitoring Haaland’s recuperation in the hopes that, following the forthcoming matchups, the difference between the two teams doesn’t change.
