Sunday’s 0-3 loss put the Minnesota Timberwolves behind the Dallas Mavericks in their Western Conference Finals series. A number of spectators and reporters cited one dubious choice as the reason Minnesota lost Game 3.

At the American Airlines Centre in Dallas, Texas, the Timberwolves fell short against the Mavs, 116-107. As he has done throughout the entire series, Luka Doncic produced a number of clutch plays to secure Dallas’ victory.
In Game 3, Doncic didn’t have the most flashy stats. The Slovenian finished with seven rebounds, five assists, and thirty-three points on ten of twenty shots. But in the closing minutes, he produced a number of clutch plays that frequently outscored Minnesota.

For the majority of the game, the Timberwolves were happy to let Jaden McDaniels guard Doncic one-on-one. It doesn’t seem like Minnesota learned anything by isolating Doncic in the final moments of Game 2.

The Mavericks seem destined to play the Boston Celtics in the NBA Finals, barring any incredible comebacks. Additionally, the Celtics have a 3-0 lead against the Indiana Pacers in their Eastern Conference Finals matchup. It has been more than ten years since the Mavericks and Celtics each took home an NBA title.
